REWE Group is one of the leading trade and tourism groups in Germany and Europe with more than 15,000 stores and has been involved in different activities to further animal welfare. The Groups engagement ranges from projects under its own sustainability label PRO PLANET such as stopping the practice of beak clipping to co-founding the “Initative Tierwohl” together with other retailers. REWE Group only sells cage-free fresh eggs. From 1st July 2016, REWE Group sold only cage-free fresh rabbit meat. For these commitments, REWE Group will receive the Good Egg Award as well as the Good Rabbit Commendation.
