Following the recent wave of cage-free egg commitments that have been made across the food industry, Compassion will be hosting a Laying Hen Forum on the 3rd April 2019, at the World Trade Center at Schiphol Airport, in Amsterdam.
The aim of the forum is to bring together industry stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the key criteria required to ensure good welfare in the variety of different cage-free systems, and the issues food companies are facing in transitioning their supply.
We are very pleased to have a strong line-up of speakers confirmed from Barilla, Carrefour, Avril, Hendrix Genetics, Kipster, University of Bern and Vencomatic, in addition to Compassion in World Farming.
The Forum will feature presentations and panel discussions around three headline topics:
- Key features for laying hen welfare in barn and free-range systems, including combination systems and multi-tier systems;
- Communication of cage-free commitments, progress reporting and consumer marketing; and
- Aligning animal welfare and sustainability in egg production.
The event will run from 14:00-17:30 (arrival from 13:30) and is located directly opposite Schiphol Airport to allow delegates to fly in and out on the same day.
Attendance is free of charge but places are limited, so please contact Nathan.Williams@ciwf.org if you or your colleagues are interested in attending, so we can reserve a place for you. (Note: Participants will be registered on a first come, first served basis.)
Further details will be circulated in due course to those people registered to attend.
