Aramark Expands Broiler Chicken Commitment

News Section Icon Published 13/08/2019

Today (13 August), food service giant Aramark has extended its US and Canadian commitment for the humane treatment of broilers chickens to its European operations.

By 2026, the company will require all of its European suppliers to meet the European Chicken Commitment requirements for 100% of their fresh, frozen, and processed chicken.

Aramark has a long-standing commitment to responsible sourcing in a way that minimises impacts to people, animals and the environment.

As part of their Animal Welfare Policy, in February 2017, they announced their commitment to source 100% cage free eggs (both shell and liquid) globally by 2025.

Aramark’s broiler chicken commitment means that now six of the seven founding members of the Global Coalition for Animal Welfare (GCAW) - the world’s first food industry-led initiative aimed at advancing animal welfare globally - have now signed the Better Chicken Commitment. Improving broiler chicken welfare is one of the key priorities of the coalition. Find out more above GCAW here.

Aaramark follows KFC, Casual Dining Group and Compass Group who have all made similar pledges over the past month.
