Dr Eimear Murphy, EU Research Manager
Eimear has a degree in Psychology from the University College Dublin, which she followed up with an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare from the University of Edinburgh.
She then spent 14 years working as a researcher at various academic institutions across Europe, including a PhD on the assessment of emotion in pigs at Utrecht University.
While Eimear has contributed to studies on transport in sheep, play in rats, social cognition in pigs, and the validity of animal research, much of her research career has been dedicated to the development of tasks to study emotion in farm and laboratory animals.
Eimear joined Compassion in March 2022 to apply her skills in research to improve the welfare of animals farmed for food.
